Steal Away
Steal Away
Come, love, and let us steal away
And build a cabin by the shore
Of some small lake where fishes play,
And make two old hearts young once more.
We will build a little boat
With oars to nudge it on its way
And like an aspen leaf we’ll float,
Just you and I and yesterday.
We’ll watch the idle hours drift by
Beyond the reach of cares or tears,
Two hearts’ companions — you and I,
Forever young, in spite of years.
